Staff establishment
Our department has a total staff complement of 221 with 114 HPCSA training numbers. There are 107 funded registrar posts, which are filled most times. We have 7 supernumerary registrar posts.
There are approximately 80 specialists across the platform. The department hosts 33 medical officers. Posts are constantly being filled as junior medical officers move into registrar posts.
The executive committee is composed of the Academic Head, who also serves as a head of clinical unit at CMJAH, 2 chief specialists and 10 other heads of clinical units. It is captured in figure 2.

Consultants in the department are given duties according to their special interests related to clinical and academic domains. These are delineated in figure 3. We have two full-time Wits-employed research co-coordinators posts, one of which is vacant at this point, and two Wits-employed administrators.
