How to apply

Step 1

MSc Coursework and Research Report:

All MSc by coursework and research report applicants, please apply online by following the link provided in step 2. The closing date for applications is 30 September each year. Upload the following documents onto the online system:

  • Detailed curriculum vitae
  • Motivation letter stating:
    1. Why you want to pursue an MSc by coursework and research report;
    2. Area and number of years of clinical experience;
    3. Relevant postgraduate courses attended;
    4. Content covered in your undergraduate training relevant to area of speciality.

MSc by Dissertation:

If you are interested in pursuing an MSc by dissertation through the Physiotherapy Department of the University of the Witwatersrand, send the required documents (listed below) to Benita.Olivier@wits.ac.za (Cc Veronica.Ntsiea@wits.ac.za) by 30 September (for January intake the following year).  Under special circumstances, students pursuing an MSc by dissertation will be allowed to apply by 31 March (for July intake of the same year). The processing of applications is complex and involves input from different parties. Feedback will be provided within 4 to 5 weeks. Await feedback before you formally apply for the degree through the online system.

An interview may be arranged by the potential supervisors should it be deemed necessary

PhD:

If you are interested in pursuing a PhD through the Physiotherapy Department of the University of the Witwatersrand, send the required documents (listed below) to Benita.Olivier@wits.ac.za (Cc Veronica.Ntsiea@wits.ac.za) by 31 March (for July intake of the same year) or 30 September (for January intake the following year).  The processing of applications is complex and involves input from different parties.     1. Why you want to pursue a PhD;
    2. Area and number of years of clinical experience;
    3. Relevant postgraduate courses attended;
    4. Previous publications or related academic work;
    5. PhD funding opportunities pursued.

An interview may be arranged by the potential supervisors should it be deemed necessary

Step 2

Log onto the Wits application page at https://www.wits.ac.za/applications/ and complete the application
