B rief Professional History
Colleen Dawson is the lecturer and convenor for the postgraduate BA Honours and MA Publishing Studies programmes. She has developed the programmes to be competitive in focusing on current publishing practices, to meet the needs of the publishing industry and to attract students from a variety of disciplines. Her MA research is focusing on the development of Publishing Studies as an academic discipline at Wits. She was the Sciences and Maths publisher at both Macmillan and Heinemann, and has co-authored a number of Natural Science and Life Science textbooks for high school.
Teaching and Supervision
Colleen Dawson has taught parts of the BA Honours Publishing Studies since 2003, and has developed the curriculum and taught on the MA programme that started in 2014.
