About
  • The Wits University Boat Club (WUBC) was established in 1924. We are one of the oldest rowing clubs in the country. Our club's heritage and traditions complement the proud and memorable history it is developing each passing season.
  • WUBC prides itself on an athletic commitment that allows for social interaction and enjoyment.
  • The sport integrates experienced and novice-level rowers, contributing to a competitive and diverse club community where all can participate.
  • The club shed is conveniently located at Wemmer Pan, allowing rowers to commute easily to and from Wits during the training season.
  • The club travels to Roodeplaat Dam for training and weekend camps. The camps encourage and promote skill improvement as well as athleticism. At the end of a solid session there is not much that can match the feeling of rowing into the jetty as the sun sets, accompanied by some of your closest friends.
  • The evenings are spent together in the clubhouse, sharing a meal and enjoying the company of fellow rowers.
  • The club is the perfect platform for athletes to develop their abilities or take part in a new sport. The tranquil setting out on the water is perfectly balanced with the determination and drive to find some boat speed.
  • WUBC club is perfectly suited for all previous oarsmen and women and for any student looking to make new friends while developing their athletic ability. Rowing is a sport like no other; it’s challenging both mentally and physically, but the rewards are like no other too.
  • The club is affiliated with RowSA and participates in the USSA sprints, the Boat Race and many of the major regattas annually.
