Plato on Human Community”

Thursday, 19  October 2017

Robert Sobukwe Block, Ground Floor, Room: RS 3C, from 16:15

Abstract:

Human beings need to cooperate because they lack self-sufficiency. From their cooperation the technical arts (τέχναι) come into being—forms

of knowledge designed to counteract insufficiency. But the technical arts require division of labour and produce inequality. Thus justice

as geometrical equality must be born of a lie. Truth and justice both can be realised only in philosophical community.
