Understanding yesterday | Shaping today | Building tomorrow
Wits serves as the bridge from a divided past to a united future.
Today, South Africa is the most unequal society in the world – an inequality shaped by our colonial and racialised history. Yet, as a country, we have pioneered a transition that seeks to address historical disparities to create a fairer tomorrow. Wits reflects this universal dichotomy. Through our teaching, research and societal engagement, we are the symbol of what a flourishing and inclusive society should be. But we cannot do this alone.
