DESCRIPTION:Professor Peter Dobson Professor Emeritus University of Oxford, UKThis talk is really a commentary on how the Universities in the UK are adapting to teach”innovation” and to put in place an eco-system that encourages students (and academics) to think about the responsible exploitation of new ideas emerging from research. The conditions that led to the speaker setting up a new type of Science Park in Oxford will be outlined, along with his personal experience in the setting up of several new spin-off companies. There is no magic “best way” to exploit University research and almost every example will require some flexibility and this will be illustrated by examples.
