DESCRIPTION:The Department of International Relations at Wits will host this roundtable discussion. The Foreign Policy Forum: Regional Powers in Global Politics accompanies South Africa's membership in the UN Security Council during 2019-2020. It consists of a series of six roundtables each dedicated to a particular theme. The overarching topic is the role of regional powers in global affairs which is characterised by a return of great power politics and erosion of multilateralism. This roundtable will discuss the current demise in international law and the return of great power competition.
