Research Ethics Applications
The Research Ethics Committee at the Wits School of Education is a sub-committee of the university’s Human Research Ethics Committee and operates under its jurisdiction.
All registered Honours, Masters and PhD students at the Wits School of Education whose research involves human participants must have research ethics approval before their research can be conducted. Conceptual research does not need research ethics clearance.

All other applications including MEd by dissertation, PhD and staff applications must be completed and submitted (along with the supporting documentation) online at www.witsethics.co.za.
Research Ethics Application submission Deadlines

To submit their application form, students should email it to their supervisor, who will review it before sending it to the research ethics administrator, Matsie Mabeta at Matsie.Mabeta@wits.ac.za. The Research Ethics Committee meets once a month in a calendar year, although not in January, September, November or December.
