Business pitch competition

Open to Wits students, staff and alumni - Sell Your Business Idea in Two Minutes, and stand the chance to win great prizes!

Inspiring Innovative Ideas + Creative Commercialisation

The Business Pitch Competition promotes creativity, idea generation, and entrepreneurship by recognising innovative ideas for new products, services, and technology.

Only shortlisted candidates will qualify to pitch. Be sure to attend all presentations and workshops to better prepare for the pitching competition.

Competition Process

Step 1. Fill in the Business Pitch Entry Form.

Entries are due by 16:30 pm on Tuesday, 6 August 2019.

Participants may submit multiple ideas and may compete individually or in teams of two to four members.

Pitching Categories are:
  • Wits student women entrepreneurs
  • Wits alumni, academic or professional staff
  • Current Wits undergraduates
  • Wits-based start-ups

Step 2. Business angels, entrepreneurs, and business advisors review ideas. 

Step 3. The top-rated ideas in each category submitted by the 6 August 2019 deadline will participate in the Business Pitch Competition on 16 August 2019.

Step 4. Each idea, to be presented in under two minutes, will be evaluated by the panel of judges.

Step 5. Winners will be announced, and awards presented at the end of the Business Pitch Competition.
