The Centre, in conjunction with the Wits School of Arts, facilitates unique opportunities for academics and students to exploit the research potential of WAM’s collections and to work within the cross-disciplinary context that the collections embody. The Centre also provides an academic context for artists working in contemporary modes, such as performance and installation, to place their work within an African historical context, as well as in relation to more global theoretical perspectives.

From time to time funded research opportunities may become available. More information on these opportunities will be posted on the Centre’s website in due course.
