Podcasting is an initiative started by the eLSI unit the beginning of the year 2011. The aim is to have a podcast server where all podcasts of events happening around the university environment will be kept and users will be able to access them for later use. VTC (Virtual Training Centre) offers staff and students the opportunity to access tutorials for a wide variety of computer software programmes and applications. This ranges from graphic design to project management software. The tutorials are aimed at providing users with the opportunity to learn and engage at their own pace. In addition, should a user wish to be certified on particular software package/s, examinations for certification can be written at a nominal cost to the user. To access online tutorials can be accessed directly at http://computertraining.wits.ac.za Skills Zone is an online learning space incorporating tutorials focusing on helping young people build key critical cognitive and practical skills that are required for University and the world of work.
