Wits Cricket needs no introduction to the cricket fraternity and other. The Club has achieved at all levels of the sport and to mention some, it includes releasing players to provincial and national teams, winning leagues and competitions. Wits plays league cricket under the auspices of the Gauteng Cricket Board and has registered teams in the following divisions:
Croxley is a longstanding corporate partner of the Club. The Club is grateful for their support as their assistance makes it possible to award cricket bursaries and subsidise some of the exorbitant operational costs to run a cricket club.
The success of Wits Cricket is also informed by its vibrant internal league. This league is limited to 12 teams from faculties and residence. Despite the social character of the league, competition is not divorced from the game. The junior teams 3rd & 4th (Sat & Sun leagues) practice on a Monday and Wednesday at the Sturrock Park Cricket clubhouse on the West Campus. These teams are coached by Zain Fredericks (Club chairperson).
The Premier & Presidents’ league teams practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Walter Milton Oval on the East Campus. These teams are coached by Aldo vd Berg. Aldo has played extensively on the South African first class circuit. The Club has a vibrant committee which manages the affairs of the club.
