Taekwondo Club 2012Taekwondo is a Korean martial art that has been offered at Wits for a
number of years, and for all the members it is a place to hone their
skills by improving fitness, increasing co-ordination, sharpening mental
strength and most importantly having fun. There are two aspects to
Taekwondo, namely the fighting (Kyorugi) and the patterns (Poomse),
both of which are competitive.

Although Taekwondo is ultimately an individual sport, there is great
emphasis on team work. During training sessions there is an undeniable
spirit of encouragement, focus and discipline. It is a sport that demands
dedication, but the rewards are invaluable. Misconceptions that must be
refuted about the sport are that people who take part in it are violent
and scary! It must be stated that Taekwondo is for anyone who is willing
to challenge themselves both physically and mentally.

The Taekwondo Club gets together twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays at Hall 29 on West Campus from 18h30 to 20h00.
