In 2011 the Wits Fencing Club celebrated its 75th year and indeed it was time for celebration as we were also awarded a new clubhouse after the
renovations of the former stadium were complete.
Fencing is an individual sport that uses both the body and mind. You need to be fit physically in order to move about, but also mentally so you can play. A lot is happening in so little time and you cannot afford to lose a second of what’s happening in front of you. The sport has become something more than just sword-fighting from the Middle Ages.
Remember Fencing is an Olympic sport, and thus anyone who plays stands a chance of doing something great, on a world stage or even in the training hall.
Practices take place upstairs in the Multi-purpose gym of the Squash Complex on West Campus from 17:00 to 19:00
on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Thursday evenings are our nights for teambuilding and meeting each other in
our clubhouse. For more information on the club contact: witsfencing11@gmail.com.
Forthcoming Events (2012):
