USSA 2012
The 2012 USSA Yachting Tournament was organised by UCT, and hosted at Theewaterskloof Sports Club, on Theewaterskloof Dam in the Western Cape.
Our intended manager, Max Motloung, had to withdraw due to the tragic passing away of his father the week before the event. In wake of this, and in my position as Commodore of the club, I assumed the duties of Team Manager for the event.
The competing institutions were UCT, Maties, Rhodes, and Wits. UKZN withdraw due to funding problems.
The format of racing in this event is team racing, with two teams competing against each other in each race. A team is made up of three double-handed boats, in this case 420 class dinghies. Wits entered three well prepared teams:
