Research Interests

My particular areas of interest is on hydrometallurgical processing of valuable metals from primary, low grade and other alternative secondary sources such as waste material and dilute process streams. My aim is to develop a portfolio of high quality fundamental research that maximises returns from processing of primary and secondary mineral resources whilst paying particular attention to minimising the environmental impact across the hydrometallurgical industrial sector. This can be approached through improving the performance and efficiency of hydrometallurgical /extractive metallurgy processes by optimization of existing process routes and development   of new, potentially transformative, technologies. As a result, my work also touches on potentially transformative, technologies and process routes such a biohydrometallurgy and the integration of metal extraction processes (communition-leaching circuits) to maximise mineral and metal recovery and increase process efficiency at minimum costs. The work also covers water treatment in different industrial effluent and dilutes streams with the aim of recovering value metals and reusing the water in the plant processes. All these are areas of vast importance in the African mineral industries sector and other developing nations.
