Why study Spanish?

Spanish is only offered as a first year course. The aim of the two modules offered in Spanish is to provide the student with a basic understanding and communication skills in Spanish language. Students will learn to participate in Spanish in conversations on familiar topics and will become competent in basic grammar. Students will have an introduction to Spanish Culture exploring the rich traditions of the different regions of Spain, the main artists and artistic representations, the history of Spain and on Spanish cinema. The second module is equivalent to National Qualification Framework 2 which students to continue their language studies in other language centers in South Africa. After completing this course, students will also be able to fulfill the linguistic requirements of the A2 level of the DELE exam (widely recognized certificate of Spanish, offered by the Instituto Cervantes)
