The Wits Theatre

 

Our largest theatre seats 360 with excellent visibility, acoustics, and a stage which is adjustable from a conventional proscenium arch setting to a large thrust stage. The thrust/apron can be lowered to auditorium level to increase the seating capacity or lowered to basement level to create an orchestra pit.

The Wits Theatre hasa saturation lighting rig. Any changes to this rig need to be discussed, with the Production Manager and Lighting Technician at least2 weeks before the get-in.
All gel colours are to be supplied by the client.

A flexible experimental venue with comfortable seating on tiered rostra for an audience of 120.

Wits Amphitheatre

Initially an informal, outdoor space mostly used for lunchtime presentations. In 1992, the new Amphitheatre was roofed in with available seating of around 120. It has a raised stage, consisting of wooden rostra.

How to book a venue

Please note a booking is not confirmed until an agreement of lease has been signed by both parties.A deposit or the full payment may be required to confirm the booking.

Hiring Procedures:

Step 1 : Check availability of venue with the Admin Secretary.
Step 2 : Request an application form, have it filled in and submitted asap.
Step 3 : A signed Lease Agreement will then be emailed to you with fees payable.
Step 4 : Sign and return a copy of the Lease Agreement, together with proof of payment. Your booking is then confirmed.
Step 5 :               Only EFT and cash deposits will be accepted. Reference should be the name of the Organisation or the Department or the name of the Representative.
