PROVIDED Maths HG is at least a D or SG a B symbol and English HG is at least a D symbol	Applicants with 3 points above the likely acceptance level for the BCom and BAccSc degrees,(awards) and who meet the minimum admission requirements,may register for five (instead of four) first year courses.(units)
Bachelor of Economic Science (3 years) BEconSc	English (First or Second language) PASS HG min 40% Mathematics PASS HG Min 70%	28 points and above PROVIDED maths HG is at least a B symbol and English HG is at least a D symbol
Bachelor of Accounting Science - (3 years) BAccSc	English (First or Second language) PASS HG min 40%, Mathematics PASS HG min 60%	29 points and above PROVIDED Maths HG is at least a C symbol and English HG is at least a C symbol.
Bachelor of Laws (4 years) LLB	English (First Language) Pass HG min 40% or English (Second Language) PASS HG min 50%	23 points or above	Applicants applying for mature age will have to write a selection test and may be placed on a special curriculum.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (4 years) BSc(Eng)	Mathematics Pass HG Physical Science (or Physics and Chemistry) Pass HG	Branch of: - Electrical 26 and above - Mechanical 24 and above - Aeronautical 24 and above - Civil 24 and above - Industrial 24 and above - Metallurgy 21 and above - Chemical 24 and above - Mining 20 and above. Provided that: Maths HG ? at least a C symbol is obtained (except for Mining where a D symbol for Maths HG is acceptable), a minimum of a C symbol for Physical Science HG and, a minimum of a D symbol for English HG (1st or 2nd language)		Selection tests Applicants may be required to attend an interview. NOTE Due to the limited number of places available, meeting the likely acceptance level does not guarantee admission. Selection will be based on final grade 12 results.
Bachelor of Engineering Science in Biomedical Engineering (3 years) BEngSc (BME)	As above for BSc(Eng)	Applicants considered on matriculation performance and may be required to complete a questionnaire or attend an interview.It is unlikely that places will be offered to applicants with less than 30 points or without HG matric Biology.
Bachelor of Architectural Studies (3 years) BAS	Mathematics Pass HG or min 60% at SG English Pass HG	Acceptance dependent on departmental selection procedures. Applicants are required to complete a written and graphic exercise and will be required to attend an interview. Applicants with a points rating of 23 and above may be accepted on this basis. Applicants with between 18 and 22 points may be accepted an the basis of the exercise and an interveiw for either the ordinary degree or an extended curriculum programme.
Bachelor of Science in Urban and Regional Planning BSc(URP) Bachelor of Science in Quantity Surveying Studies BSc(QSS) Bachelor of Science in Construction Management Studies BSc(CMS) Bachelor of Science in Property studies-BSc(Prop. Studies)	Mathematics Pass HG or minimum 60% at SG English PASS HG	All degrees 24 points and above.		BSc(URP) applicants with a points rating of 20 to 23 may be accepted for either the ordinary 3-year programme or an extended curriculum subject to further selection procedures. The University may decide that all applicants complete an admission exercise and/or selection test.

If you are applying to the Health Sciences, you will not be selected solely on your matric results, although they are very important. You must complete the biographical questionnaire included in the Guide for Applicants and return it to the Student Enrolment Centre by the end of June 2010. ALL applicants are required to write the placement test.

Humanities

Law courses (units): Applicants who wish to take law units in their first-year of study must meet the admission requirements for Law		Selection test for applicants with a points rating between 14 ? 21. However, applicants with 22 points or more but who do not have the subject grouping indicated in column 2 may have to write the selection tests.
Professional and specialist degrees (all 4 years): BA(Social work) BA(Fine Arts) BMus BA(Dramatic Art) BA(Performing and Visual Art)	As above	22 points as well as meeting departmental selection procedures, which may include the writing of the Faculty?s selection test		For professional and specialist programmes: BA(Social Work) - written assignment BA(Fine Arts) - interview/submission of portfolio BMus - interview and audition BA(Dramatic Art) - interview, written assignment and/or audition
Bachelor of Arts in Speech and Hearing Therapy (4 yrs) - BA(Sp&H Therapy)	As above plus pass mathematics HG or min 50% SG (but if HG Mathematics passed, only one of the subjects listed above is required)	25 points and above and departmental selection procedures		BA(Sp&H Therapy) - Suitable applicants will be contacted and interviewed duringthe first two weeks in October.
Bachelor of Education (4 yrs) - BEd	Subject to further selection procedures, applicants with a Senior Certificate and 3 HG credits, including English (1st or 2nd language) may be considered. Mathematics HG or min 60% SG and Physical Science HG or min 60% SG are recommended for the specialisation in Physical Science; and Mathematics HG or min 60% SG for the Mathematics specialisation	Normally 18 points and above ? Consideration may also be given to applicants with a lower rating, subject to further selection procedures.
Advanced Certificate in Education (ACE) (2 yr upgrading)	3-year diploma and 2 years teaching experience

Science

Bachelor of Science (3 years) BSc	Mathematics Pass HG min 40% English Pass HG (First or Second Language)	26 points and above		Applicants with between 24 and 25 points will be waitlisted for possible admission into the 3-year or 4-year programme.There are additional requirements for admission to certain majors,eg Computer Science requires a C or higher symbol for mathematics HG,while the requirement for Actuarial Science is a B symbol or higher.Actuarial Science- preference will be given to applicants who have passed science as a subject.
