| USE (University Student Employment) is a nonprofit placement service run on campus that assists in finding part time work for current Wits students.
For many students, working part time is not an option but a necessity. There are students who need money to pay off study loans, those in self catering often need money to cover daily expenses of vital items like food, to cover transport costs, buy books and stationary -the list is endless. Also, students need employment during vacation to keep a finger on the pulse of the reality of a world that does exist beyond campus culture.
Our students can do almost anything and everything, as long as its legal. Jobs employing students through USE are as varied as the students themselves. They have been employed as drivers, shop assistants, couriers, tutors, baby-sitters, researchers, waitrons, cashiers, house sitters, promoters, receptionists, stock takers, barmen, models, designers. Students can also work in more specialised areas, like engineering, quantity surveying, accountancy, medicine, the arts, and computer programming.
