BA Degrees | Course Structure

The Wits Plus BA part-time degree is focused on the Social Sciences (Psychology and Sociology).

The degree is awarded on completion of two 1st, 2nd and 3rd year major course and 4 elective subjects.

A full courses typically extends over a year (two semesters) – and points are allocated to each course and you will only accrue those points when you pass the course. A minimum of 456 points is required to be awarded the degree.

Students are advised to enroll for a maximum of 2 courses per year.

The same standards that make the full-time WITS BA highly valued are applied to the part time Wits Plus BA. WITS PLUS STUDENTS RECEIVE THE SAME QUALIFICATION AS FULL TIME STUDENTS.

Part-time students at Wits Plus have 2 choices when they plan their studies:

The BA Option 1:  BA in Social Sciences (Click here to download the BA Road Map):
This option requires students to major in 2 courses from Social Sciences, such as Sociology and Psychology.

Wits Plus students have a unique opportunity to include a selected range of B.Com courses in the BA degree – contributing a maximum of 180 points. This means that one major may be studied from the BCom range of courses, selected from Human Resource Management, Marketing and Management – as long as the student fulfills specific conditions and pre-requisites.
