Local Merit Scholarships: Students with excellent academic records will be considered for a merit scholarship if she/he is registered for a full-time Honours, Masters or PhD degree.
Overseas Merit Scholarships: Students with excellent academic records will be considered for an overseas merit scholarship if she/he intends registering at an internationally recognized university for a full-time Masters or PhD degree.
External Postgraduate Funding: Students may apply for additional funding for Honours, Masters and PhD registration through other statutory bodies.
University Postgraduate Merit Awards:
A University Postgraduate Merit Award is available to assist graduates to complete their Honours, Masters and PhD degrees by research or by a combination of course work and research on a full-time basis. ** The award will be for tuition fees to the maximum value of R38 500 for 2012.
Postgraduate Financial Assistance: Postgraduate Financial Assistance is available to assist South African citizens to complete full-time postgraduate Diplomas, Honours, Masters and PhD degrees if they cannot access postgraduate scholarships or merit awards.
Travel Grants: Travel Grants are available to assist postgraduate students to attend conferences in South Africa, elsewhere in Africa and in exceptional circumstances International Conferences. This grant depends on the availability of funds.
Outside funding/bank loans/bursaries: Most banks offer student loans. Details are available from financial institutions. A number of organisations offer bursaries.
