Study at Wits

Students choose to study at Wits because it is an internationally respected research intensive university. Undergraduate Applicants

Students applying to study at Wits go through the Student Enrolment Centre (SEnC) where they deal with any enquiries related to applying, accommodation, financial aid, sport and other bursaries, career education, curriculum planning and selection test information. We can also help with registration, timetables, syllabi and booklists. 

Postgraduate Applicants

Wits offers postgraduate degrees across all five faculties on a full time or part time basis. Our strength in postgraduate education comes from the fact that one third of our students are studying at this level. Our research track record is reflected in the 23 fields of study where Wits ranks in the top 1% of the world. We are ranked in the top 500 universities in the world, an attest to the excellent capacity to produce research with high international impact.

Evening and part-time studies

Study part-time in the evening at Wits to get the best of both worlds - learning and earning. By combining our popular courses in the Faculties of Humanities and Commerce, we offer you the opportunity to study for a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Commerce degree in a part-time, after-hours programme, starting in February of each year.

International students

International students wishing to apply to study at Wits are assisted with information and guidance on obtaining a Matriculation Exemption, advice on immigration issues, application procedures for study permits and renewals of existing study permits, medical aid service providers and orientation of new students on campus. All enquiries are managed by the Wits International Office.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

Get help on how to pay for your studies through the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office (FASO). The office provides information about other funding sources, expected costs and strategies for balancing your budget. Scholarships and merit awards are also managed here

Student Services

Enquiries on accommodation, sport, career counselling, health and disability programmes are the services offered by the Division of Student Affairs headed by the Dean of Students. This office links the interests and concerns of students to those of the University administration.
