Description:

Main Purpose:

The Programme Manager is responsible for the management and coordination of CNS’ portfolio of projects and for managing relationships with the University’s application owners, relevant software vendors, and related stakeholders (University and other). The Program Manager works closely with CNS senior management groups to ensure the University achieves its strategic, teaching, research and service goals.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Continue to set up and maintain a Program Management office (KIM Project Management Office – KPMO) in CNS
  • Oversee all aspects of the delivery of CNS’ portfolio of projects, coordinating all areas of CNS to achieve outcomes agreed with clients.
  • Ensure that an integrated, coordinated approach to corporate project management is developed and implemented through the establishment and maintenance of project management methodology and reporting processes that focus on the delivery of business solutions.
  • Develop, maintain and implement a methodology for monitoring and measuring the critical success factors of the team’s activities and services, ensuring continuous improvement, appropriate use of key performance indicators, and adherence to industry standards and benchmarks.
  • Responsible for the delivery of large, high-profile projects and programmes of work, typically with large budgets which clearly meet business needs.
  • Ensure that comprehensive project, quality, and risk plans for large projects are prepared and maintained and that own projects are resourced appropriately.
  • Maintain productive relationships with partners, key clients, the information and communication technology industries, relevant parts of the public and private sectors and with the higher education industry.
  • Encourage the autonomous bodies and units within the enterprise to acquire or develop information systems that benefit the needs of the whole organisation.
  • Ensure that accountabilities of the respective parties to contractual instruments are managed within appropriately developed standards and processes, and that contractual arrangements comply with appropriate University policies.
  • Establish and maintain a strategic, operational project management and budgeting planning framework for the area that is transparent and informs the University on the outlay of information management resources.
  • Maintain an operating environment that is fully transparent in regard to budgetary, scheduling, billing and outcome information.

Requirements:

  • An appropriate degree (Bachelor of Commerce (Information Technology)/ Bachelor of Science (Information Technology) and/or a relevant combination of qualifications
  • Extensive experience at a senior level in the ICT field.
  • More than 3 year experience at Programme Manager Level
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively promote, manage and implement organisational change and to lead diverse and multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the effective use of Project Management methodologies, tools and techniques, with proven ability to successfully manage a large portfolio of diverse projects.
  • Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.

Preferences:

  • Experience in and / or a wide understanding of challenges relating to working within a higher education environment
