RECEPTIONIST (AD13)

Description:

The School of Accountancy is looking to appoint a Receptionist to provide an efficient front desk service to staff, students and visitors to the School of Accountancy by competently manning the reception area and switchboard. As the person who provides the interface between School of Accountancy and the public and the rest of the University, the Receptionist fills a pivotal role. His/her experience, professionalism, efficiency and ability to deal with pressure are key factors to be taken into account when filling the post.


Key responsibilities include the following:

 

The Receptionist will be in charge of the School of Accountancy Reception Office and the handling of all incoming School of Accountancy phone calls. In addition to handling general queries, the Receptionist will receive students and visitors to the School, send faxes, handle postage and couriering, some back-up typing and computer networking of messages to staff. The Receptionist will coordinate office moves when applicable, and assist in resolving staff admin faults such as telephone lines, internet points etc. He/she will update telephone lists and ensure maintenance of the school website as well as handling incoming web queries and other administrative work of the School as required. The receptionist will also assist with the administration of the Accounting Information Systems 1 project and course.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 – Matric.
  • At least 1 year previous reception experience, preferably in an education institution.
  • Sound knowledge of telephone etiquette and customer relations.
  • Good organizational ability and inter-personal skills are also essential. He/she would need the ability, experience and confidence to interact with a large variety of people, often of high social or academic standing, and treat them with respect.
  • Highly computer literate, with proficiency in MS Office Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to convey information clearly and correct, answer simple questions about the School and events of the School.
