Project Finance Administrator AD09

(Two year fixed term contract with potential extension pending funding)

Purpose:

 

The University invites suitably qualified and experienced applicants to apply for the position of Project Finance Administrator available in the 21st Century Institutes. The successful candidate will assist the 21st Century Institutes leader with devising and providing an effective, smooth and professional service to the Institute’s Project Director, Grant-holders, Institute Directors, Principal Investigators, students and Donors in the context of a complex and difficult Project Finance system at Wits with a complex range of funding streams and grants awarded to the project and the six new Institutes presently emerging within the University. S/He will oversee funding matters through the full cycle of funding, and providing a smooth efficient service to the staff and students; in all cases close liaison with the Central Finance Division will be needed. S/He will participate in these early stages of the project in a range of other tasks which may need doing until additional staff are acquired, e.g. dealing with the Human Resources division, etc.

 

Key responsibilities include the following:

  • Advising on and assisting in preparation of budgets for the Project Director and any member of the various Institutes requiring assistance;
  • Receiving funds from multiple sources;
  • Managing funds;
  • Reporting on funds, that is both internally and externally;
  • Providing additional assistance within the project as needed

 

Requirements and Attributes:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree with an Accounting specialty;
  • Postgraduate qualification degree preferred;
  • 5-7 years of work related experience;
  • Understanding of all Oracle modules;
  • Knowledge of the University environment.
