The Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Academic, Prof. Yunus Ballim, cordially invites you to the 2nd Distinguished Library Lecture entitled the History and Future of the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) Project to be presented by Penelope Margaret Silva. Silva is the recently retired Deputy Chief Editor of the OED. The Oxford English Dictionary (OED), is widely regarded as the accepted authority on the English language. It is an unsurpassed guide to the meaning, history and pronunciation of 600,000 – words – past and present – from across the English-speaking world. The OED started more than 150 years ago.
