Probing strongly coupled anisotropic plasma

The National Institute for Theoretical Physics, and the Centre for Theoretical Physics in the School of Physics is presenting a talk in the theory seminar series, entitled Probing strongly coupled anisotropic plasma. The talk is presented by Dr Dimitrios Giataganas. An anisotropic gauge/gravity duality, coming from a consistent deformation of N=4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills, will be presented and used. It corresponds to a dual quark-gluon plasma not in equilibrium and with anisotropic momentum distribution. The anisotropic gauge/gravity duality will be described. Then the jet quenching, the diffusion time and the static force along the different anisotropic directions, will be find. They will be compared to each other and with the isotropic case. The speaker will also comment on the results and elaborate on their similarities and differences with the weakly coupled plasmas and data.
