An Assessment of the Constitutionality

The Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics invites you to a Faculty Lecture entitled An Assessment of the Constitutionality. The lecture will consider the development of the Protection of State Information Bill (POSIB) since its first introduction in Parliament in 2008. The Bill has provoked unprecedented opposition on the basis that it poses a grave threat to freedom of information and freedom of expression. The lecture will outline the principal constitutional objections to the Bill and will evaluate whether they have been adequately addressed in the Parliamentary process.
