Symposium Announcement

The  second international symposium on

“Hepatitis B Virus Genotypes ~ global diversity and evolution”

is being organized by Professor Anna Kramvis of the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa and Professor Yasuhito Tanaka of Nagoya City University, Nagoya, Japan, as the closing event of their three year (2009 - 2011) Bilateral Scientific Collaboration. The symposium will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from the 28th to 30th September 2011 and will be funded by the National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science and the University of the Witwatersrand.

The objective of the symposium is to allow scientists from both organizing teams to present research data obtained during the funding period of the international science liaison. In addition to the presentation of their data, new developments and insights into HBV genotypes and their global diversity and evolution will be presented by invited specialists in the field. This symposium will allow postgraduate students from various South African institutions to interact with the invited international experts and should be an interesting and stimulation experience for all.

Registration for the Symposium, which is CPD-accredited, is now open. The closing date for registrations is Friday 23 September 2011 at 17:00.
