Description:

Purpose:

 

The Projects and Proposals Officer will support the University, by providing services through the Development and Fundraising Office (DFO). The incumbent will be responsible for delegated internal relationships with faculty and support staff, of the University. There are three broad functional areas to this post:

  • Undertake proposal writing, editing, information preparation and dissemination.  He/She will need to liaise with internal clients and to work with the Senior Fundraiser in the DFO. This process also requires working on project budgets and updating the DFO database.
  • Project manage allocated DFO projects.
  • Undertake stewardship activities of the DFO, by arranging to give due recognition to the donor according to the stewardship policy.  Provide the donor with narrative, financial and progress reports timeously, and arrange stewardship functions.

 

Requirements:

The successful incumbent will preferably have an appropriate university degree with at least three years’ relevant experience;

Outstanding writing skills; (Applicants will be required to undergo a writing test)

A clear understanding of approaches to budgeting;

Demonstrated project management skills;

Events management knowledge and experience.  

 

Additional attributes:

A sound knowledge of the donor or higher education environment; 

The ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records;

The ability to work to tight deadlines and within given timeframes;

The ability to work meaningfully and reliably within a team;

Good interpersonal skills.

An ability to multi-task, deploying a wide development-related skill set.

·         Three-year University degree

 

  • Five years working experience in fundraising management
  • Computer literate
  • Excellent written/spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Driver’s licence
  • Excellent team player and strategic thinker

Experience in education, especially the higher education environment, would be an advantage.
