Learners experience Wits with all their senses

Scientific and technologically savvy students were taken through a sensory experience at the Experience Wits with all your senses stand exhibited at the Sasol Techno X.

The Sasol Techno X contained science, maths and physics exhibitions under the theme: Today’s minds, tomorrow’s future and encouraged the learners from Grades 7 to 12 across the country to pursue these fields. 

The School of Liaison spent a successful week at the Sasol Recreation Club in Secunda from 2 until 7 August 2015, showcasing various schools including Chemistry; Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering; Electrical and Information Engineering.

The exhibition reminded learners that technology's future belongs to them. The exhibitions were hands-on, interactive and stimulating experiences.

 

The Wits stand was themed Wits Sensory Experience and the idea was that learner’s experience and interact with Wits through exhibits which included;  a Tesla Coil demo;  hydraulic arm and rollercoaster; levitating cube using liquid nitrogen; sorbet using liquid nitrogen; elephants toothpaste- chemical reaction; chemical molecules that give fruit their smell ;Jacobs Ladder; dancing robots and a flight simulator.

 A “selfie stand” was included where students could take pictures at the “Great Hall” as well as with chemistry props. For their efforts, the Wits’ School of Liaison was placed third under the category Best Exhibition: University.
