AU chairperson: State of Africa

As the continent celebrates Africa Day today, Wits University is proud to host Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission who will deliver a keynote address on the State of Africa. 

Dlamini-Zuma is a guest of the Wits branch of the ANC Youth League. Her presentation will focus on peace and stability and Africa as a global competitive continent.  Professor Gilbert Khadiagala, Head of the Wits Department of International Relations, will speak on the role of leaders and governance in taking Africa to greater heights in the opening remarks. Mukhovhe Morris Masutha, former president of the Wits Students’ Representative Council and Founder of the Thusanani Foundation, will speak on the role of youth in building a united Africa.

Africa Day commemorates the establishment of the African Organisation of Unity in 1963. The organisation is now known as the African Union and aims to secure Africa’s economic and political future.
