The license agreements governing the electronic resources available through the University of the Witwatersrand Library permits them to be used by authorized staff and students of the University only.

Breaches of the University s contractual arrangements with publishers could result in the suspension of access to the resources for the entire University of the Witwatersrand community.

The systematic downloading, distribution, printing or retention of substantial portions of the information ? such as downloading or printing entire journal issues or electronically transmitting online content to mailing lists or electronic bulletin boards ? is strictly prohibited.

New E Resources and E Wits Catalogue PIN system:
To protect patron user login details to the E Resources (off campus access) and the e-Wits Catalog the Library has instituted a new PIN system. Upon login in for the first time patrons will be requested to create their own PIN number. You will then require this PIN along with your surname and student / staff number for any subsequent logins. All patrons using the e-Resources off campus and using their e-Wits Catalog account will be required to create this PIN. The PIN can be up to 16 digits long with a minimum of six required. Once you ve logged into your account there will be a feature allowing you to change the PIN.

Any forgotten PIN number needs to be reported to Library Computer Services (011 717 1950), the account can then be reset and patrons would then be able to create a new PIN on their next login. How to create a new PIN.
