Funny, endearing, wise and invigorating, this tale of an older man?s fixation on a younger man is nominally based on the Mann novella and the Visconti screen adaptation Death in Venice, but while there are obvious references, Love and Death on Long Island offers a much more personal and life-affirming approach to the lure of beauty and perfection. Director, Richard Kwietniowski has an obvious affection for his characters, gently poking fun at both characters. Hinting at impending doom, the drama avoids the collision, offering a vision of love that is nurturing rather than apocalyptic. Starring John Hurt and Jason Priestly.Director: Richard Kwietniowski |
