| This odd bit of movie memorabilia from 1984 starts Rob Lowe and Jodie Foster in Tony Richardson?s notorious film of John Irving?s book. At the time, its depiction of an extremely peculiar family and its themes of incest and homosexuality got the film banned and panned in most reviews. Two decades later the hysteria is gone and what?s left is a tragic farce that is not particularly great but has good intentions and fine performances. Time: 110 mins |
