MI LLM Bursary 2018
Bursary opportunity for LLM Students 2018
The bursaries have been generously provided by Mandela Institute, School of Law in memory of Nelson R Mandela. The bursaries are in recognition of the desire of Mandela to see South Africa and Africa generally develop skills and expertise to engage with the global system to promote socio-economic development. In his 2002 letter of support, he noted that “South Africans understand that economic stability and growth are necessary conditions for the success of freedom and democracy. But the world economy is an unforgiving place, one in which the international good will generated by democratisation provides increasingly limited returns if not accompanied by necessary economic transformation. If developing countries, and those in transition, do not equip themselves to compete in the global economy, their democratic systems will be imperilled as they are bypassed by the winds of investment and economic progress.”
Three (2) bursaries up to the value of R60 000 are available to provide for tuition fees only to LLM students in areas broadly related to trade and international economic law, commercial and business law, mining (extractives) law, corporate law, and energy law and sustainability.
