Postgraduate Diploma in Law

The Postgraduate Diploma is ideal for law graduates or professionals who wish to acquire advanced knowledge in a combination of subjects, without the need to engage in extensive research and writing.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Law is very similar in structure and content to our LLM by Coursework and Dissertation. The main difference is that the LLM by Coursework & Research Report carries additional research requirements.

For this programme students must take four (4) courses chosen from a list of compulsory and elective courses prescribed for a specific programme (coursework component).

Entry Route

  • LLB or equivalent degree with an average of 65% in the final year of study
  • One equivalent Mandela Institute course passed with an average of 60% or above
  • Applicants without an LLB: Suitable qualifications plus completion of the Mandela Institute course Introduction to Law for Non-Lawyers

For an idea of the courses offered on this programme, please look at the LLM by Coursework section of this website.

The closing date for applications to the Postgraduate Diploma in Law is 31 October 2016 for South African students and 30 September 2016 for international students.
