We are born of our home, Johannesburg, the city that builds a nation and shapes a continent
Wits serves as the bridge from a divided past to a united future. Today, South Africa is the most unequal society in the world – an inequality shaped by our colonial and racialised history. Yet as a country we have pioneered a transition that sought to address historical disparities and create a fairer tomorrow. Wits reflects this universal dichotomy. Through our teaching, research and engagement, we are the symbol of what a flourishing and inclusive society should be.
