Wits is home to 15 South African Research Chairs, seven research institutes, 20 research units, 10 research groups, three Centres of Excellence, more than 200 rated scientists, of which 14 are A-rated. Wits is also home to one of the largest fossil collections in the sourthern hemisphere.
