The Internationalisation and Strategic Partnerships Office (ISPO) is strategically positioned to lead and facilitate all internationalisation facets of the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Functions range from attracting and recruiting international students and providing relevant services to them, facilitating the internationalisation strategy of the University, building and maintaining the University's international partnerships and collaborations and receiving international visitors/delegations.
The Internationalisation and Strategic Partnerships Office (ISPO) maintains and seeks out new partnerships with other universities on and beyond the African continent. Through these linkages, and working closely with academic departments, the WIO is able to facilitate opportunities for Wits staff and students to particip ate in research collaborations and student and staff exchanges.
The Internationalisation and Strategic Partnerships Office (ISPO) publicises a number of African as well as International Programmes which are facilitated throughout the world and focus on different disciplines or research areas.
The Internationalisation and Strategic Partnerships Office (ISPO) regularly publicises both short and long term scholarships. These Scholarships are usually for a specific discipline or target a specific research or focus area.

INSPIRE (INternational Science Promoting Innovation and entREprenuership) has now officially opened its first call! INSPIRE is an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project that grants scholarships to South African Master and PhD students to undertake a full degree at some of the best universities in Europe. There are 8 full Master degree scholarships of two academic years and 8 full PhD degree scholarships of 34 months available (one scholarship per hosting European university).The deadline for applications is the 1st of November 2014.
