Workshops and Groups at CCDU

Information on groups and workshops on personal development, self-awareness and adjustment to university.

The Adjustment Group: A CCDU initiative specifically designed for Wits first year students.

The transition from school-pupil to university student is often challenging and daunting. Often, students adjusting to university life struggle with the changes that take place, and this may leave them feeling overwhelmed and in need of   support. The Adjustment Group offers a safe space in which issues surrounding adjustment can be addressed and shared with other students who are going through a similar experience.

The group runs every Monday from 13:15 - 14:00. Discussions which take place during the session are confidential. All first year students are welcome to sign up at the CCDU reception and attend!

Mindfulness @ CCDU

Are you looking for ways to understand and cope with your feelings like stress, anxiety and anger?

Do you want to learn ways to quiet and relax your busy mind?

Do you want to learn skills that help you become more aware of your inner self?

Practising mindfulness helps you to:

  • live more in the moment
  • to have greater clarity of mind to allow you to make non-reactive choices in everyday life
  • increased ability to respond rather than react
  • slow down and see where you are
  • become more aware of your bodily sensations, feelings and thoughts
  • be able to manage your stress more effectively

    A Mindfulness group is starting at CCDU, west campus, on Thursday the 2nd of March, during the student lunch break at 13h15pm.
