Alumni News

Then and now: Azhar Cachalia
It's been more than 27 years since Azhar Cachalia (BA 1981, LLB 1984) was a student at Wits. Back then he had to apply to the government to attend a 'white' university, as did all black students - who were defined at the time as African, Indian and Coloured.

Alumni Achievers

Ivan Glasenberg - Witsie with the Midas touch
When his company listed jointly on the London and Hong Kong stock markets towards the end of May 2011, Switzerland-based Glencore CEO Ivan Glasenberg became South Africa' wealthiest individual with his 15% Glencore shareholding valued at around $9-billion.

Patrick FitzGerald: Changing the face of Wits
On the 11th floor of Senate House, Professor Patrick FitzGerald, Wits alumnus and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Finance and Operations, is quoting Blake. "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite."

At Wits End
