
BRIGHT STAR AWARD
WITS ALUMNI HONOUR AWARDBackground The Wits Alumni Honour Award was established in 1979 by the Executive Committee of Convocation. Objective The purpose of the Wits Alumni Honour Award is to recognize a graduate of exceptional standing and achievement who has rendered service to the community and has maintained links with the University. Conditions The nominee for this Award must be a member of Convocation. The Award is to be made annually and advertised in the press, on the Internet and in the University’s alumni magazine, Arena. A call for nominations will take place in the March issue and the recipient of the Award named in the July issue. Selection Committee The Committee will consist of the President of Convocation, the Immediate Past President of Convocation, the Vice-Chancellor and an elected member of the Executive Committee of Convocation. Nature of the Award The Award will take the form of a medal and a framed certificate and will be presented at a cocktail function hosted by the Vice-Chancellor on behalf of the University. Should the recipient reside outside of the Gauteng area, an appropriate function will be arranged when a member of the Senior Executive Team is in that region or country. HONOUR AWARD
