UNIVERSITY OF THE WITWATERSRAND, JOHANNESBURG

Operations Research Analyst

Operations Research is the scientific approach to solving decision problems in the management of organisations by the development of mathematical, statistical and/or computer models of the system. These models are used to predict the outcomes of alternative decisions to find solutions that are in some sense optimal.

Students wishing to pursue a career as an Operations Research Analyst are strongly urged to register for an Honours degree in Operations Research through either of the Schools of Statistics and Actuarial Science or of Computational & Applied Mathematics, after completing their Bachelors degree. Continuation of their studies is also highly recommended and, for those wishing to specialise or to follow an academic career, a PhD degree is required.
