Faculty of Science Prize Giving 2012

We are celebrating the academic achievements of a group of individuals and those who supported them during the last couple of years. When prizes are received today, let us also pay tribute to the many friends, donors and philanthropists who have given freely and generously for this event to be possible. 

It is not uncommon for high achievers to be talented on many fronts, for you are purpose driven, manage your time and talents well and are constantly expanding your horizons. No matter how talented you, it still takes hard work, discipline and sacrifice to reach the levels of success which you have attained.  

As a University with a longstanding tradition of excellence, we would like to reinforce our desire to be the leading University on the African continent. By arranging this prize giving, we are saying to you that we value your participation as partners in our own drive for excellence as a University.

For me, it ties in with my own vision for “Excellence in Diversity” for the Faculty of Science.
