Postgraduate Studies in Geography, Archaeology and Environmental Studies

The School has a strong commitment to postgraduate students. There are over one hundred postgraduate students currently enrolled in our Honours, Masters and PhD programmes. The School attracts students from South Africa and the southern African region in particular, but we also host students from other African states as well as North America, Europe and Asia. Our students regularly attend local and international conferences and frequently publish their work in local and international journals. Courses and programmes The School of Geography, Archaeology, and Environmental Studies offers four honours degree programmes, nine different masters degree programmes and three Phd programmes . Both Masters and PhD programmes in Geography are by research only (i.e. dissertation or thesis respectively; no course work programmes are currently on offer). Course work Masters programmes are possible in either Archaeology or Rock Art. Students are advised to discuss their interests with staff and identify a possible supervisor before completing their application forms for their post-graduate degree. Honours
