Birding Weekends 2011

Prof. Yunus Ballim and the School of Animal, Plant and Environmental Sciences (AP&ES) invite you to join us for two birding weekends on two wonderful pieces of Wits property in 2011. The first is to Wits Rural Facility on 23 to 26 September and the second to Pullen Farm near Nelspruit on the weekend of 28 to 31 October.

For Wits Rural Facility, we have provisionally booked the Lodge and accommodation at Caravilla. Please consult the Wits Rural Facility website for costs and for contact details to make bookings for accommodation and food. Transport will be provided either leaving from Wits Friday morning and returning Monday afternoon (six places with Kevin Balkwill and Craig Symes) or leaving Friday lunchtime and returning Sunday evening (six places with Yunus Ballim) – please book a place on the weekend and / or transport with Kevin.Balkwill@wits.ac.za. Alternately, you are welcome to travel independently. It would be great if people will share accommodation, to maximise the number who can participate.

For Pullen Farm, accommodation will be R 50 per person per night, only self-catering is available and there are 14 rooms with between two and six beds in each room. Again, it will help if people are prepared to share rooms. The same transport arrangements are available. Please do all booking for the Pullen Farm weekend through Kevin.Balkwill@wits.ac.za.
