Post-doctoral fellows (PDFs) play an important role in enhancing our research activities. A PDF usually acts as the laboratory manager, explores new (and hence risky) research directions, and often assists with the supervision of postgraduate students. Professor Neil Coville, recently retired from the School of Chemistry, and who has hosted many PDFs in his laboratory, has been appointed by the Faculty to look after our PDFs.
The Faculty welcomes the University’s generous provision for the funding of PDFs. The PDFs associated with Schools in the Faculty of Science during 2011 are listed below. Moreover, the FRC funds a number of short-term post-doctoral positions to enable PhD graduates to produce research publications from their theses.
